দাবানলে পুড়ে ছাই পর্যটন সিটি লাহাইনার মাউই
আমেরিকার হাওয়াই রাজ্যের মাউই দ্বীপে ভয়াবহ দাবানলে মৃতের সংখ্যা বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৮৯ জন। পুড়ে ছাই হওয়া এলাকার আবর্জনা সরানোর পর নিহতের সংখ্যা আরও বাড়বে বলে আশঙ্কা। নিখোঁজ রয়েছে এক হাজারের অধিক মানুষ।

স্টেট গভর্নর এই দাবানলকে হাওয়াইয়ের ইতিহাসে সবচেয়ে বড় প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ হিসেবে অভিহিত করেছেন।
দাবানল এখন অনেকাংশে নিয়ন্ত্রণে থাকলেও, ঐতিহাসিক শহর লাহাইনার আশপাশসহ দ্বীপের আরও কিছু অংশে আগুন সম্পূর্ণরূপে নিভিয়ে ফেলার কাজ অব্যাহত রয়েছে।
অভিযোগ উঠছে, শুরুর দিকে যথাসময়ে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের সতর্ক করেনি দায়িত্বশীল কর্তৃপক্ষ। নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ে স্থানান্তর করা বাসিন্দাদের অনেকে আশঙ্কা করছেন, তাদের ফেলে আসা বাড়িঘরে লুটপাটের ঘটনা ঘটতে পারে।
