নতুন করে উদ্বেগ বাড়াচ্ছে বার্ড ফ্লু। বার্ড ফ্লু এর ভাইরাস H5N1-এর স্ট্রেইনের সন্ধান মিলল এবার দুধে।
শুক্রবার বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, যে সমস্ত প্রাণীরা এই বার্ড ফ্লুয়ে আক্রান্ত তাদের শরীরজাত কাঁচা দুধে মিলেছে এই ভাইরাসের স্ট্রেইন। তবে এই ভাইরাস দুধের মধ্যে কতদিন বেঁচে থাকে, তাই এখন প্রশ্ন। কিছুদিন আগেই বিশ্ব দেখেছে করোনাভাইরাসের দাপটে এক ভয়াবহ অতিমারী। ভাইরাসের ক্ষমতা কতটা দানবীয় হতে পারে, তার আঁচ দিয়েছে কোভিড-যুগ। এরপর H5N1 বার্ড ফ্লু ভাইরাসের স্ট্রেইন ঘিরে আশঙ্কাজনক খবর উঠে আসছে।
১৯৯৬ সালে অ্যাভিয়ান ইনফ্লুেয়েঞ্জা (H5N1) প্রাথমিকভাবে ছড়িয়েছিল। পরে ২০২০ সালে তা ভয়াবহ আকার নিয়েছিল। সেবার মৃত্যুর হার ছিল ভয়ানক।
২০২০ সালে ওই ভাইরাসের ছড়ানোর ঘটনায় যে শুধু ১০ মিলিয়ন পোলট্রির মুরগি মারা গিয়েছিল তা নয়, সংক্রমিত হয়েছিল বহু বন্য পাখি, স্থলের পশু, জলজ স্তন্যপায়ীরাও। বার্ড ফ্লু মানেই যে শুধু পাখিদের ঘিরে উদ্বেগ তা নয়। গত মাসেই এই বার্ড ফ্লুয়ে আক্রান্তের সংখ্যায় যোগ হয়েছে গরু ও ছাগল। উল্লেখ্য, এর আগে এই ইনফ্লুয়েঞ্জাতে কখনওই সংক্রমণের আশঙ্কার তালিকায় গরু ও ছাগল পাওয়া যায়নি।
বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার গ্লোবাল ইনফ্লুয়েঞ্জা প্রোগ্রামের প্রধান ওয়েনকিং ঝাং বলেন, ‘টেক্সাসে একটি গরু থেকে প্রথমবারের মতো কোনো মানুষ বার্ড ফ্লুতে আক্রান্ত হলো। পাখি থেকে গরু, গরু থেকে গরু এবং গরু থেকে পাখির মধ্যে ভাইরাসটি সংক্রমণের বিষয়টি আমরা জানতে পেরেছি। এ থেকে বোঝা যায় যে, ভাইরাসটির বিষয়ে আমরা আগে যা বুঝেছিলাম তার থেকে ভিন্নভাবে সংক্রমিত হচ্ছে।’
বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার এই কর্মকর্তা বলেন, বার্ড ফ্লুতে আক্রান্ত প্রাণীর দুধের মধ্যে ভাইরাসটি পাওয়া গেছে। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে পাস্তুরিত দুধ এবং দুগ্ধজাত দ্রব্যসহ নিরাপদ খাদ্য নিশ্চিত করা খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
