শিকাগো থেকে ৪০ মাইল দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমে এ হামলার বিষয়ে কোনো তথ্য থাকলে তা পুলিশকে জানাতে স্থানীয়দের প্রতি অনুরোধ করা হয়েছে।
জোলিয়েট পুলিশ বিভাগ এক বিবৃতিতে বলেছে, ঘটনাটি সক্রিয়ভাবে তদন্ত করা হচ্ছে। স্থানীয় আইন প্রয়োগকারী সংশ্লিষ্টরা এ নিয়ে কাজ করছে।
সংবাদ ব্রিফিংয়ে বিল ইভান্স বলেন, সোমবার স্থানীয় সময় ১৮টা ৪ মিনিটে পুলিশকে জানানো হয়েছিল যে, বেশ কয়েকজনকে গুলি করে হত্যা করা হয়েছে। ওয়েস্ট একর রোডে ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছানোর পর পুলিশ কর্মকর্তারা সেখানে সাতজনের মরদেহ দেখতে পান।
