শান্তিতে নোবেলজয়ী ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের গ্রামীন টেলিকম ট্রাস্টকে ৫০ কোটি টাকা জমা দিয়ে ২০১১ থেকে ১৩ করবর্ষের আয়কর আপিল ফাইল করতে হবে বলে রায় দিয়েছেন হাইকোর্ট।
গতকাল সোমবার (১২ ফেব্রুয়ারি) বিচারপতি মো. খুরশীদ আলম সরকার ও বিচারপতি রাশেদ জাহাঙ্গীরের হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ ড. ইউনূসের আবেদন খারিজ করে এ রায় দেন। একই সঙ্গে বলেন, আইন অনুযায়ী যেটা দেয়ার সেটাই ড. ইউনূসকে দিতে হবে। এখানে অনুকম্পা দেখানোর কোনো সুযোগ নেই।
এর আগে গত ২৮ জানুয়ারি বেলা ১১টায় আদালতে উপস্থিত হয়ে শ্রম আইন লঙ্ঘনের মামলায় শ্রম আদালতের রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে শ্রম আপিল ট্রাইব্যুনালে আবেদন করেন ড. ইউনূস ও গ্রামীণ টেলিকমের অন্য তিন শীর্ষ কর্মকর্তা।
ওইদিন ড. ইউনূসের আইনজীবী আবদুল্লাহ-আল-মামুন জানান, নিম্ন আদালতের আদেশে এক মাসের জামিন দেয়া হয়েছিল। সেটিও বাড়ানোর জন্য আবেদন করেছেন তারা। আগের দিন ২৭ জানুয়ারি তিনি জানান, রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে ২৫ থেকে ৩০টি পয়েন্টসহ একটি পিটিশন জমা দেবেন তারা।
গত ১ জানুয়ারি ঢাকার তৃতীয় শ্রম আদালতের চেয়ারম্যান শেখ মেরিনা সুলতানা এক মামলায় গ্রামীণ টেলিকমের চেয়ারম্যান ড. ইউনুস এবং এর পরিচালক আশরাফুল হাসান, নুরজাহান বেগম ও এম শাহজাহানকে ছয় মাসের কারাদণ্ড দেন। একই সঙ্গে তাদের চারজনকেই ৩০ হাজার টাকা করে জরিমানা এবং অনাদায়ে আরও ২৫ দিন কারাদণ্ড দেন আদালত। আর রায়ের পরই পৃথক জামিন আবেদন করলে তাদের আবেদনের প্রেক্ষিতে চারজনকেই জামিন দেন আদালত।
এর আগে গত ১৬ নভেম্বর মামলাটিতে তাদের যুক্তিতর্ক উপস্থাপন শেষ করে রাষ্ট্রপষ্ট। তারও আগে গত বছরের ৬ জুন তাদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ গঠন হলে রাষ্ট্রপক্ষের চার সাক্ষীর জবানবন্দি রেকর্ড করা হয়।
উল্লেখ্য, ২০২১ সালের ৯ সেপ্টেম্বর ঢাকার তৃতীয় শ্রম আদালতে শ্রম আইন লঙ্ঘনের অভিযোগে মামলাটি দায়ের করেন কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন বিভাগের শ্রম পরিদর্শক (সাধারণ) এসএম আরিফুজ্জামান। নথি অনুযায়ী, ২০২১ সালের ১৬ আগস্ট আইএফইডি কর্মকর্তারা রাজধানীর মিরপুরে গ্রামীণ টেলিকমের অফিস পরিদর্শন করে শ্রম আইনের সঙ্গে কিছু লঙ্ঘন দেখতে পান।
