শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর থেকে মালউ-এর নাগরিক নোমথেনডাজো তাওয়েরা সোকোকে (৩৫) ৮ কেজি ৩০০ গ্রাম কোকেনসহ গ্রেফতার করে মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর (ডিএনসি)। দেশের ইতিহাসে সর্বোচ্চ সলিড কোকেনের চালান জব্দ বলে দাবি করেছে ডিএনসি।
ডিএনসি জানায়, কোকেনের এ চালান আফ্রিকার দেশ মালউ অথবা ইথিওপিয়া থেকে বাংলাদেশে আসে। বাংলাদেশকে ট্রানজিট রুট হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছিল চালানটি পাচার করার জন্য। কারণ এ পরিমাণ কোকেনের চাহিদা বাংলাদেশে নেই।
শনিবার (২৭ জানুয়ারি) রাজধানীর বিভিন্ন এলাকায় অভিযান চালিয়ে উদ্ধার হওয়া ৮ কেজি ৩০০ গ্রাম কোকেন চালানে দেশি-বিদেশি নেটওয়ার্ক শনাক্ত করেছে ডিএনসি। পাশাপাশি কোকেন চালানের মূলহোতাসহ একাধিক নাগরিককে গ্রেফতার করেছে মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তর (ডিএনসি)।
মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তরের ঢাকা মেট্রো কার্যালয়ের (উত্তর) সহকারী পরিচালক মো. মেহেদী হাসান এসব তথ্য জানান।
তিনি বলেন, এ বিষয়ে রোববার (২৮ জানুয়ারি) বিকেলে সেগুনবাগিচায় মাদকদ্রব্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক মুস্তাকীম বিল্লাহ ফারুকী সংবাদ সম্মেলনে বিস্তারিত জানাবেন।
