পাত্রের ভেতরে অংকিত আছে তিন লাইনের শিলালিপি। যার অর্থ হলো—‘ফেং রাজ্যের চিংশু দ্বারা নির্মিত। যা তার স্ত্রী বোচিকে উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে। এটি তার সমস্ত প্রজন্মের জন্য একটি সম্পদ।’
১৯৭৮ সালে উত্তর-পশ্চিম চীনের শায়ানসি প্রদেশের বাওচি সিটির ফুফেং কাউন্টির একটি প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক স্থানে সুপ্রাচীন এ পাত্রের সন্ধান পাওয়া গিয়েছিল। ১৯৮৪ সালের নভেম্বরে এটি চুরি হয়েছিল। এরপর থেকেই এর সন্ধানে ধারাবাহিক প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়ে আসছিল চীন।
